RICS is delighted to invite you to a CPD event run on RICS Global Professional Statement in Cost Prediction which will be held on the 25 September 2019.
Summary of the Topic: This Professional Statement is intended to set out good practice in construction cost prediction on a global basis based upon current international standards (principally the ICMS) to improve the consistency and quality of practice of cost management professionals worldwide.
- An understanding and awareness of the first global professional statement in quantity surveying published by the RICS
- An appreciation of how the benchmarking, cost estimating, and cost planning process can be implemented using ICMS
- A review of current global best practice in this competence area
- An understanding of how the professional statement will be applied in practice.

About the Speaker
Alan has over 35 years’ experience in construction specializing in the project and cost management of schemes up to £4 billion.
Since joining the RICS in May 2011, Alan has been leading the RICS response to the government construction strategy. He was a member of the Lean Client/Procurement government task group and is now a member of the government Trial Project Support Group monitoring the trial projects.
Finally, as a Global Director in Professional Groups he liaises with Chartered Surveyors worldwide on general matters of standards development, government policy and education and training and leads the RICS participation in developing International Construction Measurement Standards (ICMS). ICMS is a global standard, developed in collaboration by leading professional bodies worldwide, and work is now underway.

The presentation will start promptly at 1830. If you have not dialled in by this time (1830), you will not be able to claim your 1.5 hr. Formal CPD.
All practising RICS members are required to record at least 20 hours of CPD (including a minimum of 10 hours of formal CPD) completed each year. It has come to our attention that certain RICS members in this region have declared as complete CPD events that they have booked but not attended.
Please note that we maintain attendance registers at RICS training and CPD events. We will also be carrying out extra checks on CPD records and, where dishonest recording is identified, the matter will be brought to the attention of the RICS regulation team and may result in RICS pursuing disciplinary action.
