RICS is delighted to invite you to a Webinar CPD on Exploring Alternative Approaches to the Resolution of Construction Disputes, which will be held on 10 March 2020.
There is more than one way to resolve a dispute.
This seminar will explore some of the dispute resolution approaches that occupy the wide range between initial claim submission, on one end, and formal proceedings on the other. With a focus on construction delay disputes, the approaches examined include independent assessments, internal risk reviews, litigation support, joint appointments, and expert advice during negotiation.
Lessons are drawn from real-life scenarios, addressing the various stages of disputes and the roles of different participants. In doing so, the session will not attempt to set-out definitive solutions, but rather openly explore some of the available options and examine what implementing them in practice may entail.
- Recognise some of the complexities of dispute resolution and the diversity of approaches available to resolve disputes;
- Identify some of the potential strengths, weaknesses and challenges associated with certain approaches;
- Compare examples of the various approaches that may, or may not, prove successful in certain circumstances;
- Examine the potential benefits of implementing more than one approach concurrently; and
- Appreciate the pivotal roles of the various parties involved.
