RICS is delighted to invite you to a CPD event run on Understanding Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Procedures is the key to Success! which will be held on the 19 August 2019.
Event overview: The seminar will discuss the different forms of ADR in the context of Qatar’s Civil Code. We will highlight the key advantages and disadvantages of each separate procedure.
In addition, we will discuss the formation of a contract and tiered dispute resolution clauses, under Qatar’s Civil Code, and how ADR provisions fit into the same. We will of course interact with the audience to ensure that those in attendance obtain the maximum benefit from the seminar.

About the Speaker
John is a construction law specialist with over 30 years’ experience, both working in industry and the legal profession, in the construction and engineering industry. John worked in Qatar for approximately 8 years with several large international law firms – heading up their construction and engineering practice as a Partner/Managing Partner.
John advises on all phases of international construction and engineering projects and has advised Government Entities, Employers, Main Contractors, Subcontracts and Consultants, in relation to both contentious and non-contentious matters, upon a broad spectrum of contracts including: FIDIC, NEC and JCT together with a number of bespoke contracts including a comprehensive understanding of the Qatar Government Entities’ standard contracts
In addition, John has a comprehensive understanding of the way civil code systems of law operate and impact a construction and engineering contract and all phases of a project from inception to completion

The presentation will start promptly at 1830. If you have not checked in by this time (1830), you will not be able to claim your 1.5hrs CPD.
All practising RICS members are required to record at least 20 hours of CPD (including a minimum of 10 hours of formal CPD) completed each year. It has come to our attention that certain RICS members in this region have declared as complete CPD events that they have booked but not attended.
Please note that we maintain attendance registers at RICS training and CPD events. We will also be carrying out extra checks on CPD records and, where dishonest recording is identified, the matter will be brought to the attention of the RICS regulation team and may result in RICS pursuing disciplinary action.
