RICS is delighted to invite you to a Webinar CPD on Contract Practice & Administration in the Built Environment, which will be held on 24 March 2020.
This session will cover the construction contracts’ terminology, duties of the contract administrator, procurement / contract types / tendering methods, delays / claims / dispute resolution.
The contract administrator may be the quantity surveyor, an engineer, the Project Manager, the Lead Architect, but could also be a specialist consultant, a client representative or employer’s agent.
The session will look into the numerous aspects that a contract administrator is responsible of. When certifying or giving an assessment or decision, the contract administrators should act honestly and reasonably, as their decisions are open to challenge via the dispute resolution procedure unless the contract makes their decisions final and conclusive.

Speaker: Nicky Dobreanu
About the Speaker
Nicky Dobreanu works for a real estate developer in the United Arab Emirates. He has a master’s degree in Civil Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Management (Quantity Surveying). He is a chartered quantity surveyor (MRICS), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), and a member of the Society of American Value Engineers (SAVE). Nicky is also one of the few RICS Certified BIM Managers, a BRE BIM Informed Professional, and one of the many certified Project Management Professionals (PMP-PMI). During his career, he assisted practices, universities and NGOs in the adoption of electronic estimating systems and electronic tendering platforms, training over 400 students and professionals to date. Nicky supports the idea that that the whole industry benefits when projects are completed right first time, with respect and fairness for all stakeholders in every project and throughout all supply chains.
