RICS is delighted to invite you to a CPD run on Measurement in a Digital World: The Impact of Technology on the QS Profession, which will be held on 19 February 2020 at B303, The Design House, Al Sufouh Gardens, Dubai.
Compare and investigate the various methods of measurement available on digital 2D and BIM drawings and their efficiencies, while highlighting common pitfalls and ways to mitigate them.
Technology is evolving every day and impacts all facets of daily life- including how a QS measures. But are new techniques such as BIM and digital measurement going to mean the QS profession becomes extinct? This CPD will investigate the different file types (both 2D and 3D/ BIM) commonly used in the industry and identify how to most effectively get quantities from each one. It will also demonstrate the advantages of BIM and how these can complement a current 2D setup and knowledge base.
If you’re interested in learning about how technology will allow you to capitalise on the available efficiencies and speed up the measurement process, rather than become replaced, be sure to register now for this CPD session.
- Understand different drawing types and efficiencies available in each
- Identify different pitfalls associated with each drawing type
- Capitalise on above efficiencies to extract quantities quicker
- Inform the profession that BIM can be embraced as complementary, not disruptive, to current set-ups.
