RICS is delighted to invite you to a CPD on RICS Land and Geomatics Update on Activity, which will be held on 6 March 2019 at the Crowne Plaza, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
The seminar gives an overview on the general work and activity of the Geomatics and Land Groups of RICS and looks forward into 2019 and 2020 to anticipate some of the future efforts.
The following points will be covered:
- Water in terms of its importance, value, health and sustainability
- Urbanization and the greater demand on seas and oceans for food and resources
- New technologies, digital twins and much more robotic and autonomous capabilities
- National strategic plans and Spatial Data Initiatives
- Surveyors important role in sustaining and managing resources

About the Speaker
Gordon is based in the United Kingdom and has over 25 years of experience in the surveying industry, in particular, the offshore and hydrographic survey industry. He is a director of Venture Geomatics Limited, providing technical and management support to industry. Before starting Venture Geomatics Limited, he was the global Chief Surveyor with Racal Survey Limited and then the vice-president Geomatics at Thales Geosolutions Limited.
Gordon is a Chartered Surveyor of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and is chair of the RICS Global Geomatics Professional Board and is currently head of the UK delegation to FIG (International Federation of Surveyors) as Commission 4 – Hydrography representative.
Elected a Fellow of the Royal institution of Navigation, he has been a director of Venture Geomatics Limited since 2006. He was elected a Fellow of the Hydrographic Society (UK) in 2013 and is an active member of the International Board for the Standards of Competence of Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC). He has published numerous papers on offshore survey related themes.
