RICS is delighted to invite you to a CPD run on Concurrent Delay & Entitlement to Time Related Costs, which will be held on 13 March 2019 at the Crowne Plaza, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
The seminar provides an overview of concurrent delay and how it may influence a contractor’s entitlement to prolongation costs. It also focuses on key issues in relation to the analysis and valuation of time-related costs in practice.
This session will also examine and compare the differing views on what constitutes concurrent delay. It further provides insight on recent case law and industry commentary on the topic.
This will also be accompanied by a discussion on the valuation of prolongation costs which shall address the basic principles of compensation for prolongation, as well as more complex and challenging scenarios encountered by practitioners.
Upon completion, the attendees will:
- Understand the differences between common industry approaches to the analysis of concurrency;
- Identify certain common misconceptions with regards to concurrent delay;
- Recognise the significance of concurrent delay in claims for time-related costs, and
- Appreciate the considerations to be made in the valuation of prolongation costs on complex projects including the identification of recoverable costs.

About the Speaker
Yasir G. Kadhim is an associate director at HKA in Abu Dhabi. He has extensive experience in forensic delay and disruption analysis and regularly provides advice to owners, contractors, and legal counsel. He comes from a background in civil engineering and contracting, holds Master’s degrees in engineering and construction law, is an accredited mediator and a member of numerous professional institutes. During his carrier, Yasir has been engaged in a diverse range of high-profile projects including landmark tourism developments, nuclear and fossil fuel power generation projects, major infrastructure works, industrial plants and oil and gas projects.
