Summary of the Topic: The topic provides useful insights to the law and practice of international arbitration between states and private foreign entities when the dispute concerns Public Private Partnership agreements.

Speaker: Judge Dr Mohamed A M Ismail | Senior Consultant | Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission, Kingdom of Bahrain

 About the Speaker: Judge Dr. Mohamed A.M. Ismail, LLB, LLM, PhD; FCI Arb(UK), is the vice-president of the Egyptian Conseil D’Etat and President of the High Court of Appeal. He is Senior Consultant for the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission, and for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. Ismail is a Visiting Professor and PhD examiner at the British, Egyptian and Bahrini Universities, Lecturer at the Cairo Regional Centre of the International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), BCDR-AAA in Bahrain, and Arbitrator in the international construction contracts disputes. Dr. Ismail is the State Prize Laureate in Academic Legal Research for 2011. The Prize is the highest academic award in the MENA region since 1958. Dr Ismail is a visiting guest speaker at the University of London since 2013. He is Member of the Comité Française De L’Arbitrage, and a member of the research network of ‘Public Contract in Legal Globalization’ in Sciences Po University, Paris.

Dr Ismail was formerly a Visiting Fellow at Max-Planck Institute for International Private and Comparative Law in Germany. He was a senior consultant to H.E the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, senior consultant to H.E the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, and senior consultant to the Investment Sector in Egypt.

Dr Ismail has widely published with the leading publishers at the UK, (Routledge & OUP), Germany and at the MENA region.
